The Chemical Engineering Society (ChEn)
History
Founded in 1951 as the Society of Chemical Engineers, renamed in 1971 to Chemical Engineering Society (CES), and then adapting the acronym “ChEn” in 1972 to , the Chemical Engineering Society (CES) is one of the oldest student organizations in De La Salle University, with the primary objective of providing services and activities designed to catalyze to the holistic development of the students as future chemical engineers, cultivating healthy academic relationships among its members, and developing the students’ potential in becoming effective and service-driven LaSallian leaders.
Vision
To develop the full potential of the Lasallian chemical engineering students to be responsive to the issues in the university and society; to deliver excellence in the industries as licensed chemical engineers; and to be regionally competitive in line with the 2015 ASEAN integration
Mission
1. Complement the department’s effort in facilitating the development of well-rounded Lasallian Chemical Engineers
2. Highlight the role of Chemical Engineering profession in the society
3. Elevate the standards of the organization towards excellence
4. Nurture the existing relationship among faculty, members, officers, other organizations and other technical staff
Major Activities
1. Absolute Zero
Absolute Zero is an online trivia night where participants will be competing with each other on academic skills and trivia knowledge.
2. LibChen: A Che Resource Drive
The LibChEn: Resource Drive shall give access to ChE students to different Chemical Engineering learning materials consolidated in an online drive to help them in their coursework.
3. ChEn Talks: A Webinar Series
ChEn Talks: A Webinar Series where different guest speakers in the field of engineering will share about their experiences and research to renew self motivation of the future engineers.
4. General Assembly
The General Assembly is an event where members of the organization will gather to bond with one another through games, activities, and performances. It is also the avenue for the members to receive announcements from the organization.
