Ramos-Jimenez Rejoins 澳门六合彩 As Its New Scientist-in-Residence

Dr. Pilar Ramos Jimenez has been appointed as 澳门六合彩鈥檚 Scientist-in-Residence, particularly for the Social Development Research Center (SDRC), effective September 2019.

Dr. Ramos-Jimenez served as a faculty member of the Behavioral Sciences Department for over two decades.聽 She initiated the establishment of the Heath Social Science Graduate Program in 1994, including its scholarship fund, through an endowment fund from The Ford Foundation.聽 At SDRC, she was engaged in networking with local and international development agencies. She also organized conferences, workshops and training activities, and conducted researches in public health, urban and rural poverty, tropical diseases and other topics.聽 She coordinated SDRC鈥檚 Task Force on Social Science & Reproductive Health, which was composed of medical doctors, social scientists, a lawyer and leaders of women NGOs. She also served as the first Secretary of the Asia 鈥揚acific Network (APNET) of the International Forum for Social Sciences in Health. She became a member of 澳门六合彩鈥檚 Society of University of Fellows in 1993.

Prior to joining 澳门六合彩 in 1983, Dr. Ramos-Jimenez was the Program and Research Network Coordinator of the Philippine Social Science Council. She also taught at the Sociology-Anthropology Department of Ateneo de Manila University, headed Ateneo de Davao University鈥檚 Social Science Division, and initiated the establishment of Ateneo de Davao University鈥檚 Social Research Office.

After she retired from teaching in 2006, Dr. Ramos-Jimenez joined SDRC as its first fulltime Research Fellow. From 2007 to 2009, she went to Indonesia to serve as The Ford Foundation Jakarta Office鈥檚 Program Officer for Sexuality & Reproductive Health. 聽In 2009, she joined the Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare, Inc. as its Resident Consultant for research and training. She has also provided consultancy services as trainer, evaluator/researcher for international, regional and national organizations which included UN Habitat and UNAIDS, Family Health International, USAID鈥檚 population and development programs through selected development partners.

From 2012 to 2017, Dr. Ramos-Jimenez served as the lone consultant of the South-South & Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) of UNFPA Indonesia and Philippine Country Offices, Philippine Commission on Population (POPCOM) and Indonesia鈥檚 National Family Planning and Development Board. From March 2018 until June 2019, Dr. Ramos-Jimenez joined CLAimHealth, an implementing partner of USAID鈥檚 Office for Health, as its Senior Research and Learning Specialist.
